Procedure

Before explaining the steps needed to play Town Star, it’s important to know that Town Star does not require an account to play, but in order to earn rewards for placing in the game it does. This is why for the best experience playing Town Star, an account is required.

Most of us on the team come from an era in gaming where part of the fun of playing a game is  figuring out the best strategies to win. This is why Gala Games shows users how to start playing the game, but learning how to play is all up to the player!

We have carried this time-honored tradition over into Town Star, where it is intended that a player will learn and experiment. However, our Discord at http://galagames.chat will have MANY players who are willing to help anyone to get started!

How to Start Playing Town Star

1) If it hasn’t been done already, we highly recommend creating a Gala Games account by visiting the Gala Games website and clicking on Register in the top right hand corner.

 

(While it is possible to play Town Star without making an account, you will not be able to access your town again after leaving and will not receive rewards for playing.  For this reason, we recommend making an account.)

2) Click on Games in the top banner of links.



3) In the Town Star display, click Play Now.

4) Make a choice between the Weekly Competition server or the Free Play server by clicking on Join.  (You can change this later by clicking on Change the next time you log in.)  There’s no downside to playing in the competitive server; give it a try and you might be skilled enough to rank in the top 100 players to win some GALA! Free Play is for fun and players can test out different strategies to improve their town for the next weekly competition.

5) Click Play Now



6) Select an empty square of land on the World Map; this will be your new town location!  Some locations are better than others for certain strategies. It’s also important to remember that you cannot put your town where other players have already made their claim.  Those spots will have the default person silhouette, as seen here, or a custom profile picture.

7) After playing, we encourage people to experiment and have fun by discovering the game on their own, but there are some user-made guides out there on the web as well that can be used as a jumping off point.  Have fun!
