4:55: illmindedMarcus: Will Fortified have a “Play to Earn Mechanic?”
BB: Yes, just about everything we do will have a mechanic like that.
6:33: JakeBroski: Will Majestic Forges be able to forge NFTs?
BB: All forges will be able to forge new NFTs, not just Majestic Forges. Majestic Forges will be able to forge the best NFTs, as you would expect.
7:36: Dog: When is the referral system change planned to be voted on?
BB: I’m guessing probably pretty soon.
8:33: Svorg asks “What change?” in regard to the referral system question.
BB: “Basically one of the questions people have been asking is people have wanted changes made to the referral system to remove things like the points that last for a significant period of time. That’s something people have been asking to vote on so we’re probably going to be doing something on that relatively soon.
12:04: BB: We’ve been talking about the idea of coming somewhere into this space and building out something like an inn from Mirandus in the Crypto Voxel world. Is that something that you guys think we should do?
13:33: PunJab: Have you decided on making a private blockchain? Or found any solutions on another blockchain from making a private one?
BB: I want to be super, super, super mega clear on this. There will not be a private blockchain. None. What there will be is the GALA Blockchain, which will serve as a source of truth for all NFTs that exist in the GALA universe across all of the different chains and L2 solutions that we’ve integrated. It’s not going to be a private blockchain; it’s going to run across the nodes just like any other blockchain would.
14:27: fudzero: Only if there are enough tools/simple modifiers/3d editors to make cool looking worlds. Decentraland has a similar thing but the lands are mostly (flat?) since most of them aren’t skilled in 3D and the tools aren’t entirely gamer friendly.
BB: You’re absolutely right. We actually helped the Play to Earn guys build the minotaur. What McCarthy said is that their tools are actually ok but everything typically looks like this because they don’t have anyone that knows how to build things, so we’re thinking about it.
15:42: JakeBroski: Have you been able to walk around in Mirandus yet?
BB: I haven’t been able to walk around. McCarthy sends out these executables sometimes that I can run and they allow me to stand in one spot and look around at things, which are pretty cool. He sent out this really neat thing the other day, which will be on this coming Mirandus Monday (3/29), which shows a little bit of the ecosystem, specifically in relation to forests. If you were in Gala Gold then you would have seen that.
16:42: Are there any plans to add VR capability to Mirandus?
BB: Maybe. Yea, that’s actually something that has been discussed.
18:03:Cmdr Melarn: So I know you are becoming the next “Steam,” but will any of your games be able to run on the Xbox Live or PSN stores?
BB: I have no idea. That will ultimately be a decision that they make. We obviously want them to make that decision.
18:38: Kyuhi: As with most games these days, there is an initial player base spike. After that, the player base slowly decreases. Some of these players only return when new features are added but quit shortly after. Now, in regard to Mirandus, which will mostly be run by players, how will that decrease of players impact the Mirandus ecosystem, economy, etc.
BB: In terms of the playerbase, I think it ultimately depends on how we design the game. A lot of times, games do suffer attrition over time as they lose popularity, and one of the reasons for that is that there’s not really a reason to continue playing.
However, you have games like Minecraft that have had devoted players for almost a decade and they keep coming back and they keep playing because for them, it’s about building something in this world.
We want to capture the same passion for our playerbase. We want them to want to come back.
The world itself, the way that I see it, is as the player base decreases, the relative richness of the world, due to all sorts of resources coming back into play, will increase. Forests will regrow, animals will spread out, minerals will become richer again, and it gets to the point where the world itself is adaptable and people then have more of an incentive to come back in and start playing because it feels the way that they’re used to.
20:53: PunJab: Using L2 solutions on top of GALA, (how) will transaction costs work within the game? Example: If I buy bread from a vendor, will the transaction cost be more than the bread with L2 alone?
BB: Within the game, there will be multiple types of things; on the GALA blockchain, there will be the ability to buy and sell things essentially fee-less because it’s going to be running across the nodes. That is going to be a GALA blockchain based transaction that will exist for free within the ecosystem. If you were (to go back to the Majestic Forge question) to build a majestic sword or suit of armor and you actually mint that to the chain, then depending on where you mint that, there may be fees involved. If you decide to put it on Ethereum because you are obstinate and don’t like L2 solutions then yes you are going to pay a fee. If you’re just going to buy something in game then it should be fee-less.
22:30: JakeBroski: Players won’t abandon games they own valuable things in as easily as normal games IMO
BB: Yes, I totally agree with you JakeBroski; players will not abandon games if they own valuable things.
23:42: Sevorg: Will $GALA be the in-game currency for all Gala Games? If native currencies are created, will $GALA still be used as a secondary currency?
BB: GALA will be your bridge into the native currency within a game. GALA is an ERC-20; it’s terrible for high-speed transactions in a game; you have to pay Ethereum fees and you have to wait for it to confirm and everybody who’s had to wait for a transaction to confirm during a gas spike knows how much of a non-starter that is for gameplay.
There will be a secondary currency that you can use GALA to acquire.
24:18: (Epic coffee… mug?)
BB: This is my coffee. This is what I have to do to be awake to do these things for you people, just so you know.
24:53: Healmeup: Will GALA always be on Ethereum? I was under the impression it will be bridged to Flare or Binance Smart Chain.
BB: It will be bridged to both. It will also probably be bridged to a few other L2 solutions. Watch out for some announcements on days that come after days that come after days that begin with M. Just throwing it out there as a general thought.
25:32: PunJab: Super important, is there an off ramp from the in-game currency to GALA?
BB: I don’t know what it would be, necessarily, but there kind of has to be, doesn’t there? If there’s not an off-ramp then it defeats the whole concept of “play to earn.”
